History of the breed
There are many myths about the weight of Maine Coons. Rumors were born due to the fact that the Coon has a very long body and a long tail, and, in combination with a long flowing coat, it gives the impression that the cat is larger than it really is. The weight of an adult cat is about 8-10 kg, cats are smaller and weigh 5-6 kg.
You quickly feel sympathy for Maine Coons, therefore, having decided to have a pet of this breed, you will get a devoted friend who will respond to your love and care with boundless tenderness and affection.
The Maine Coon cat breed was formed on the North Atlantic coast of North America, in the part that is now called the state of Maine. The Maine Coon is the largest cat breed, otherwise known as the "American raccoon cat".
Maine Coons are beautiful with real, natural beauty, they are characterized by unique power and wild beauty. These domestic cats are very harmonious, they have a well-developed chest, powerful and high limbs, a long tail, long body, heavy bones, high ears with characteristic “lynx” tassels.
In addition to the obvious external advantages, representatives of the Maine Coon breed have an excellent character: smart, friendly, good with children, dogs, and cats of other breeds. These cats memorize words and intonations well, perfectly understand their owner, so it is not difficult to accustom kittens to a tray and a scratching post. Maine Coon is surprisingly kind, balanced and friendly.
Another nice feature of kun is an unusual voice. They practically do not meow, but make pleasant cooing sounds, rumbling, gurgling or cooing.
